Other Events.

On Tuesday, September 23, 2008, Hecla Mining Company (“Hecla”) announced that the underwriters in connection with Hecla’s public offering of 31,000,000 shares of its common stock completed on September 12, 2008, exercised 3,350,000 additional shares under an over-allotment option. The issuance of such additional shares of common stock also closed on September 23, 2008. A copy of the press release making the announcement is filed herewith as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated into this Item 8.01 by reference.
