Item 8.01. Other Events.
 
On May 21, 2008, Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. (the ‘‘Company’’) announced that the Company has acquired two Supramax vessels for a total price of approximately $146 million. The two ships are expected to be delivered in the second and third quarter of 2008. The acquisitions are subject to the completion of customary documentation and closing conditions.
 
A copy of the press release announcing the above acquisitions is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein by reference.
