Net income from financing operations totaled $259 million in the third quarter of 2004, compared to $320 million earned in the same period in 2003. Improved credit experience and favorable vehicle remarketing results were more than offset by lower net margins on stable asset levels. Mortgage operations earned $302 million in the third quarter of 2004, an increase of $49 million from the same period in 2003. Increases in interest rates, while negatively impacting loan production and securitization volumes, have favorably impacted net servicing income. GMAC Insurance net income of $95 million for the third quarter was a $38 million increase from the prior year. Operational strength across the business unit contributed to improved net underwriting results, while investment income remained stable, as compared to the prior year. SIGNATURES Pursuant to the requirements of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, the registrant has duly caused this report to be signed on its behalf by the undersigned hereunto duly authorized.
