Asset Management Review In anticipation of 2003 contributions, GMAM studied a range of alternatives to lower asset return volatility Further shift from equity to bond exposure not optimal due to low fixed income returns Analysis pointed to increased allocation to asset classes where active management had generated significant excess returns Resulting strategies showed low correlations to stock and bond markets and higher expected returns than bonds.
