Hypertronics Releases New Shielded HyperGrip® Connector

Hypertronics Corporation, a Smiths Interconnect business and world-leading provider of high performance interconnect solutions for the most demanding applications; announced today the release of their new Shielded HyperGrip® connector. More sophisticated medical equipment with increased data transfer rates have given rise to a need for shielded connectors to protect medical interconnect from dangerous signal interruptions caused by EMI and RFI. In addition to its uniquely medical appearance and proprietary features, the Hypertronics Shielded HyperGrip® circular, plastic, push-pull medical connectors series provides continuous shielding through the connector with an attenuation of -50db at 3 GHz.

The Shielded HyperGrip series is ideally suited for operating in sterile hospital environments and embodies the features and functionality required to make certain that the highest level of performance and quality are maintained across key disciplines that include homecare cardiac devices, patient monitoring, imaging, and electrophysiology catheter systems. Recognizing the needs of the medical device community, Hypertronics Corporation has designed Shielded HyperGrip to be user-configurable, color-coded (5 different colors are available), has front and rear panel mount receptacle design, is finger-proofed, resistant to sterilization protocols and can be keyed to provide true and secure connections on medical devices.

“With Shielded HyperGrip, Hypertronics has taken a bold step forward in achieving its vision of an innovative state-of-the-art interconnect solution that addresses the constantly changing landscape of the medical device industry,” stated Vadim Radunsky, President of Hypertronics Corporation. “Early feedback from customers who have deployed Shielded HyperGrip indicates that they are embracing it as an interconnect device that is reliable and easy to work with.”

It is important to note that EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) can cause the degradation of system performance. Hypertronics Shielded HyperGrip connectors help ensure signal integrity and protect sensitive medical device circuitry from damaging EMI and RFI interference, while providing ultimate performance and an extended service life. They incorporate the ultra reliable Hypertac contact design technology which outperforms standard interconnect solutions, and provides up to 100,000 contact mating cycles, drastically reducing the cost of ownership.
