State Supreme Court Strengthens Security at New York Facilities

Smiths Detection’s HI-SCAN 6040i and 5030si advanced X-ray scanners have been purchased by the New York State Supreme Court to strengthen security at 19 of its facilities throughout the state.

The HI-SCAN series is one of Smiths Detection’s most successful X-ray inspection platforms with tens of thousands of units installed around the world. They help protect judicial and correctional facilities, schools, mailrooms and entrance halls from the threat of dangerous weapons and contraband. The compact HI-SCAN 5030si and the larger 6040i version are ideal for use where contact-free inspection of pouches, bags, letters or packages is required.

James Viscardi, Smiths Detection’s Vice President for U.S. Critical Infrastructure and Emergency Response, said: “Our HI-SCAN 6040i and 5030si systems provide court houses and other high-profile facilities an exceptional combination of advanced threat detection technologies and standardized modular design. They are backed by Smiths Detection's globally-recognized training and service which makes them a great overall value for protecting court employees and visitors.”

The HI-SCANs are manufactured at Smiths Detection’s main U.S. plant in Edgewood, Maryland. The site recently expanded by some 100,000 sq feet to accommodate manufacturing for the company’s X-ray, baggage screening, and security scanning systems for North and South American customers.
