Wall Street Webcasting Presents: Wells Fargo Securities: “The Tone of the Financial Markets is Cautious and Defensive Heading into September FOMC Meeting.”

Wall Street Webcasting has prepared and provided for you an exclusive broadcast of Wells Fargo Securities own, Rich Gordon. Gordon is highly recognized for his weekly narrates regarding the fixed income strategy at Wells Fargo Securities (NYSE: WFC). This week, Gordon discusses the inflection of the market as the summer winds down and the commencement of the fall months draw near.

The month of August was described as being more reserved than the preceding summer months. The prices of stocks and bonds continuously moved lower in the past few weeks of August. The S&P Index closed the week with a marginally improved performance compared to the beginning of the week, but nothing even close to its performance observed through the month of July.

The equity markets obtained sluggish achievements so far in the month of August, which offered numerous opportunities for treasuries to recover some of its losses after what has been described as being “one of the worst 6 month performances in history.” However, they failed to take advantage of these opportunities, proving that this “secure” investment, isn’t so secure.

Stock performance has surpassed that of bonds by more than 30% this year: “both stock prices and bond yields have done most of the moving for this year already.” The ratio has moved continuously in favor of stocks throughout the year. However, this seems to have been suspended. We wonder what trade pattern hedge funds will follow come September.
