LAKELAND, Fla. - Oct. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- Todd Perkins, a new Turf and Ornamental Territory Manager for Golf Ventures, is a guy who can genuinely say he was born into the industry. His father, Dr. Tom Perkins, is chief agronomist for the National Cemeteries Administration of the Department of Veterans Affairs. "I was raised in the business by my dad, learning the chemicals and fertilizers he developed and are still used in the golf industry," said Perkins.
After graduating from The Citadel, Perkins was a Navy pilot before starting full-time in the golf course supply business. He worked for Lesco Inc., first managing a service center and then driving the Lesco truck, where he sold products to golf course superintendents directly from the truck. A stint as a product buyer for Lowe’s left Perkins ready to return to golf courses. "I’m excited about Golf Ventures’ new approach to turf and ornamental chemicals and fertilizers," he said.
Golf Ventures Sales Manager Glen Thompson remembers his days as a golf course superintendent and buying supplies from Perkins off the Lesco truck. "When I saw his resume, I knew he was someone we wanted on our team," said Thompson. "With his background and personality, he’s a great fit for what we’re trying to accomplish." As the Central Florida Territory Manager, Perkins is responsible for product sales in Orange, Polk, Osceola, and Seminole counties.
Perkins is a member of the Central Florida Superintendents Association, and he volunteers with the Wounded Warriors Project. He still flies for fun and enjoys camping and other outdoor activities. He has two children.
