Investing in the Heart of Maylands

By: PRLog
HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, England - June 11, 2018 - PRLog -- The Hemel Hempstead Business Ambassadors gathered at the Henkel HQ in Hemel Hempstead on Thursday 24 May to hear the latest developments within Dacorum and, specifically, a detailed presentation on Maylands Plaza and Viking House.

David Bogle, Chief Executive for Hightown Housing Association, introduced the two new housing developments located in Hemel Hempstead designed as part of the wider regeneration programme within the area.

Maylands Plaza, which consists of: 130 flats; a church; 10 shops including a Tesco Express, Starbucks and Greggs; a public square for events; 77 flats for affordable rent and 53 flats for intermediate rent, is almost complete. The new shops have already brought life to the industrial area in the evenings and at weekends.

Viking House, an attractive development at Swallowdale Lane, will be ready for Autumn 2019 and is made up of four blocks – the highest being nine storeys. In comparison to Maylands Plaza, it will host 87 flats – 40 one-bed for intermediate rent and 47 two-bed flats for affordable rent. The total cost of the development will be £19m with grant funding from Dacorum Borough Council and Homes England.

David Bogle, Chief Executive for Hightown Housing Association said, "We were formed in Hemel Hempstead 50 years ago but now own 6000 homes around Herts, Beds and Bucks – yet of our 850 staff, most are engaged in care and supported housing."

At the end of the event, Ambassadors were treated to a tour of the Henkel premises by Global Technology Champion Richard Boyle. Henkel is the world's number one producer of adhesives and employs more than 50,000 employees worldwide yet remains a family-owned business.

Henkel was the second organisation to move into the Maylands Industrial Estate – under the previous name of Multicore - back in the 1950's.  It is the head office for the UK and Ireland and the corporate hub for northern Europe and is one of three premises in the UK.

The next meeting for the Hemel Hempstead Business Ambassadors will take place on Thursday 21 June with an exclusive tour of Amazon's Hemel Hempstead Fulfillment Centre. Gary Stringer, Ambassador Place Manager, said, "We are extremely fortunate to have the tour of Amazons local facility booked into the diary as I understand there is a two-year waiting list."

Gary also introduced the latest Ambassadors to the group including EcoService, food waste solutions; JGK Financial Management and Stringer Mann Financial Planners.
