The Hattie Allen Foundation (HAF) has launched a virtual tech hire summer program that aims to create new career pathways for the youth and enhance their skills in the information technology industry.

HAF announced that the TechHire Bootcamp will provide training programs on networking and web development, among others. The initiative will connect participants via virtual, traditional and non-traditional educational resources.

“We are pleased and honored to be at the forefront in this TechHire Bootcamp. We encourage innovative programs and services that will benefit and give hope to young people, with the belief that they will increase their self-esteem and reach their full potential,” ~ Ms. Hattie Allen.

The launch comes after American multinational technology company Microsoft announced that that foundation was chosen as one of 50 organizations to participate in the Microsoft program to accelerate job training and digital skills in the Black and African-American communities.

HAF TechHire youth summer program will provide financial support, leadership development, and technology enablement over the next three years to support digital skills and workforce development opportunities in the community.

Additionally, HAF will receive technology enablement support from Microsoft, which will provide software and digital consulting services, to support HAF’s digital transformation for improved technological capacity.

Bootcamp participants may qualify if they are: Miami Dade or Broward County residents; Between the age of 16 – 24 years old; and residing in an underserved community or living in a household below poverty lines.

Upon completion of the six-week Bootcamp, participants are eligible to receive: Industry-recognized credential and networking opportunity for Year 1; Laptop and Program Tote for Year 2; and a $500 Stipend for Year 3.

HAF said the foundation will lead the charge in providing accelerated training in tech skills among the youth and push for #diversityintech.

“Initiatives like this are the #FutureofWork. This free summer program gives the youth more access to #digitalskills. This helps them build a future for themselves in technology. This platform seeks to discover #techtalent among the youth and help #womenintech scale up their knowledge,” the representative said.

A Florida-registered not-for-profit organization, HAF focuses on empowering youth, promoting education, promoting health, promoting leadership, and community involvement. Its programs offer an array of services to youth through education, cultural arts, and recreation.
