FLEXpine Has Low Cost Burden through HCPCS Code for Insurance Coverage

StandingTall, which produces braces for scoliosis, has revealed that their FLEXpine brace, which both helps scoliosis patients with rehabilitation and allows them to do normal activities in their daily life, has received a PDAC HCPCS Code for processing insurance claims in the US.

For products with a HCPCS Code, the price borne by patients when using Medicare and Medicaid is relatively low. This is of great help to patients who hesitate due to the high cost.

StandingTall said, “Many patients can live effectively and independently with scoliosis and reduce treatment costs when they use FLEXpine comfortably in their daily lives.”

With FLEXpine’s FDA approval, the company is speeding up preparations to enter the US market, even participating in the overseas exhibition “CES 2022” in Las Vegas, USA.

In addition, after receiving a new ISO 13485, the company is set to acquire a CE marking to target the European market, and will also participate in the MWC22 Barcelona 4YFN exhibition held in 2022 in Barcelona, Spain.

FLEXpine’s Features

FLEXpine is a brace based on patented technology that overcomes the shortcomings of conventional rigid braces. It increases muscle strength in patients whose muscles have become weak due curvature of the spine, whether they have congenital scoliosis or scoliosis due to encephalopathy or cerebral palsy. It was designed to apply pressure on the curved area to straighten the spine.

StandingTall claims that their hybrid brace FLEXpine is the only brace that combines a hard brace that provides support with a sturdy frame and a soft brace that puts pressure on the curved area with a flexible band. A StandingTall official revealed, “FLEXpine supports the upper body with aluminum and upper/lower frames while using an elastic band to wrap the body, which thereby uses the “principle of three-point pressure” to open up the curved area of the spine.”

FLEXpine comes in various sizes, from child to 2XL, and all sizes can be converted into two kinds of braces.

Patients wear the appropriate brace for themselves based on their type of spinal curvature, whether it is bi-directional S-shaped or one-directional C-shaped.

If it’s one-directional, it opens the curved area by applying pressure to the curved thoracolumbar spine using two bands; and if it’s bi-directional, it opens it by applying pressure to the thoracic and lumbar spine in both directions.

If only the thoracic spine is bent or only the lumbar spine is bent, the opposite side may also curve if pressure is applied in only one direction. As such, a band is also attached to the opposite side to prevent unnecessary pressure from being applied.
