What Is Rice Magnesium, a Plant-Based, Rice Bran-Derived Magnesium Ingredient Developed in Japan?

1. A Novel Magnesium Ingredient with Gradual Absorption and Sustained Blood Levels

Tsuno conducted a comparative absorption study in 10 healthy adult men and women who volunteered internally.
Participants consumed four different magnesium supplements: Magnesium Phosphate Tribasic, magnesium citrate, magnesium bisglycinate, and Rice Magnesium. Each supplement provided the equivalent of 300 mg of magnesium.
The results showed that Rice Magnesium derived from rice bran entered the bloodstream more gradually than the other magnesium supplements tested and maintained elevated blood magnesium levels for several hours, demonstrating a distinctive absorption profile.
Rice Magnesium is currently used in magnesium-fortified products, including vegetable juices and other health food products. Potential applications also include products designed to support sleep quality, sports nutrition for prolonged physical activity, and dietary supplements featuring naturally derived ingredients.

2. A Plant-Based, Non-GMO, Sustainable Ingredient

While conventional magnesium ingredients are primarily mineral-derived, Rice Magnesium is a plant-based, non-GMO magnesium ingredient derived from rice bran. It upcycles rice bran generated during rice milling in Japan, transforming an agricultural byproduct into a value-added ingredient and supporting more sustainable resource use.
