How the Company Started
Gruner entered the plumbing trade during his junior year of high school through a co-op program at a small plumbing company in Highland. He started at the bottom, organizing the shop and loading vans, and stayed in the trade for the next 12 years. Over that time he joined the union hall, earned his Illinois plumbing license and worked on residential and commercial projects across the region. Building a plumbing company of his own was the goal throughout, and in 2024 he launched Priority Plumbing Services.
Residential, Commercial and New Construction Work
The company now employs journeymen and apprentices who handle work ranging from new construction plumbing and remodels to drain cleaning, sewer line work, water heaters, well pumps, sump pumps and gas lines. Commercial clients use the team for backflow prevention, restaurant plumbing and drain service.

Repair-First Service With a One-Year Warranty
The company follows a repair-first approach. When a fixture, pipe or system can be repaired, the team repairs it instead of recommending a replacement. When replacement is needed, technicians explain the reason and let the customer decide. For drain and sewer problems, the crew uses camera inspections of sewer lines to find the root cause of slow drains, backups and recurring clogs. Sewer repair, trenchless epoxy repair and hydro jetting are also part of the service list.
Commercial and Emergency Plumbing
Commercial customers are another part of the work. The company works with restaurants, retail shops, property managers, apartment complexes and commercial facilities throughout Madison, Bond, Clinton, Montgomery and Macoupin Counties.
