Byerly RV is highlighting the capabilities of its RV body shop for weather damage and collision repair as fall conditions approach. The facility, which opened as part of a 2023 expansion, handles structural, cosmetic, and exterior work on motorhomes, travel trailers, and other recreational vehicles. Certified technicians address damage from hail, wind, debris, and collisions while the vehicle remains under the dealership’s care.
Fall weather can leave RVs with exterior issues that affect both appearance and function. Panels, roofs, trim, and fiberglass components may require inspection and repair after exposure to storms or road conditions. The body shop restores these elements through panel repair or replacement, structural work, and cosmetic refinishing. Technicians familiar with recreational vehicle construction perform the work, which differs from standard automotive body repair because of the materials and systems involved.
“The body shop gives owners a place to address exterior damage without separating that work from the rest of the service process,” said Warren Patton, President and Owner of Byerly RV. “When an RV is already in for seasonal preparation, the team can complete body repairs at the same time.”
The Troy body shop operates alongside the dealership’s 16-bay retail service facility. While a vehicle is undergoing body work, technicians can also complete routine maintenance items such as system checks, sealant inspections, and other preparatory tasks. This arrangement keeps the RV in one location rather than requiring separate appointments for exterior and mechanical needs. Insurance claim assistance is available for collision and weather-related repairs when documentation is required by a carrier.
Common repairs include restoration of panels and roofs affected by hail or debris, correction of dents and scratches, replacement of damaged trim, and structural repairs following an impact. Cosmetic work addresses exterior wear that accumulates over a travel season. The facility serves owners across the broader region who bring vehicles for both scheduled service and unplanned damage assessment.
Patton noted that fall is a period when many owners park their RVs and review overall condition before longer storage. Exterior damage discovered during that review can be corrected before the vehicle sits for months. Completing the work while the unit is already scheduled for other service reduces additional handling.
Byerly RV opened the Troy body shop in 2023 as part of its largest facilities investment to that point. The same year the company added a 16-bay retail service center, outdoor self-storage, and an 88,000-square-foot climate-controlled indoor storage building at its Eureka headquarters. These additions expanded the range of work that can be completed on-site for both towable and motorized units.
The body shop work is performed by certified technicians who handle recreational vehicles of various sizes and construction types. Coordination with the main service department allows parts and labor for both body and mechanical items to be managed together. Owners who store vehicles on the property can have the unit moved from storage to the body shop and returned once repairs are finished.
Byerly RV has operated since 1948, beginning as a travel trailer manufacturer under Walter Byerly and later becoming a dealership under three generations of Patton family ownership. Warren Patton purchased the company in 2020 after serving as general manager. The dealership represents more than 30 RV brands, maintains a large parts inventory, offers rentals, and provides educational sessions through Byerly RV University. It is Missouri’s only member of the Priority RV Network, which provides access to emergency service support through more than 180 independently owned dealerships nationwide. The company has received multiple Top 50 Dealer Awards from RVBusiness.
As cooler weather arrives, attention to exterior condition joins mechanical inspections and storage planning as a standard step in preparing a recreational vehicle for the off-season. The body shop provides a dedicated location for that exterior work within the same organization that handles service and storage.
