CCH, the nonprofit Christian Community Homes and Services, Inc., has completed an expansion of Pine Ridge Assisted Living on its Hudson, Wisconsin, campus, adding eight assisted living apartments to the licensed community. The organization marked the project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which it announced on August 26, reporting that only two of the eight new apartments remained open as of that date.

CCH said the added apartments allow it to welcome more residents to the campus, where residents can move between levels of care on the same grounds as their needs change. The new units are studio apartments, a smaller layout than the community's existing apartments, which the organization's website describes as 20 units each designed with a large living room, kitchenette, bedroom with two closets, and a private bathroom with a walk-in or roll-in shower and bench seat.

Pine Ridge is licensed by the State of Wisconsin as a Community Based Residential Facility and is part of what the organization calls the Hudson Life Plan Community, a single campus of adjoining buildings that brings independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and short-term rehabilitation together on one site. According to the website, Pine Ridge residents have priority access to the campus rehabilitation unit if they need transitional care after a hospital stay.

"Most people who move into Pine Ridge want to stay near their church, their doctor and their friends. Eight more apartments means more people can do that without leaving the community they know," said Shelly DeStasio, director of community relations at CCH.

Pine Ridge sits alongside WinterGreen Senior Apartments, an independent living building for residents aged 55 and older where nursing and personal care services can be added in stages, and Pine Ridge Gardens, a secure memory care neighborhood of 20 private rooms with alarmed exterior doors and a memory box at each resident's door. The campus also includes Willow Glen, the organization's skilled nursing and long-term care community, and Red Oak Rehabilitation, an 18-bed unit for short-term care between a hospital stay and a return home. According to the website, the buildings adjoin one another along a walking path that circles the campus, and the Red Oak Fitness Center is open to residents of the apartments, the assisted living community, and the rehabilitation unit.

The CCH website lists 24-hour staff, an emergency call system, help with personal care and medication management, three restaurant-style meals a day, housekeeping and bed linen service, weekly church services and spiritual care, and a calendar of life enrichment activities and outings as part of assisted living at Pine Ridge. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy are provided on site, and the website also lists access to a physician or nurse practitioner and a registered dietitian on the care team.

The August 26 announcement included photographs from the ceremony and a look inside one of the open studio apartments. Pine Ridge is led by Noelle Klund, director of Pine Ridge Assisted Living, who joined CCH after nine years of work in assisted living and memory care communities, according to the organization's leadership page. Since the ceremony, the community has also hosted a September 11 remembrance service outside the building, and a mid-September carnival shared with Willow Glen residents.

"This organization started because people in Hudson decided their neighbors should be able to grow old here instead of moving away. A ribbon cutting is a small moment, but it is that same decision being made again, four decades later," DeStasio said.

CCH, Christian Community Homes and Services, Inc., is a nonprofit, faith-based organization providing senior living communities in western Wisconsin, and it describes its mission as nurturing graceful living, rooted in faith. It began when the Hudson United Methodist Church and local residents worked to keep a nursing home in the community, opening as a 75-bed skilled nursing community that has grown over more than four decades into two campuses, one in Hudson and one in Osceola. The Osceola campus includes River Glen skilled nursing and Cedar Ridge Assisted Living adjacent to the Osceola Medical Center, with Evergreen Senior Living a short distance away. The organization names integrity, accountability, respect, compassion, and humor as its core values, and the Christian Community Campus Foundation raises funds to support its residents and programs.
