Rockwell Automation announced today it is donating $50,000 to support HealthyMKE, a comprehensive multi-media and grassroots campaign created by a broad coalition of local government, non-profit, health care, public health and community organizations designed to help empower local residents to make informed choices when it comes to getting vaccinated.
The effort includes a multi-media advertising campaign featuring community members telling their stories to build confidence in the vaccines. More than 150 trained “mobilizers” will also canvass door-to-door, particularly in zip codes identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Social Vulnerability Index as having the greatest risk.
“While COVID-19 vaccine access is more readily available, we recognize that many people are hesitant to get vaccinated, especially those in some of our most vulnerable communities,” said Patricia Contreras, Rockwell Automation’s vice president of public affairs. “HealthyMKE is helping to reduce this hesitancy by making vaccine information relatable and accessible so people can make a more informed decision.”
HealthyMKE’s efforts target the “moveable middle”: individuals who question and are open to the vaccine, but uncertain. Research by the Ad Council shows this hesitancy is based on a “wait- and see” attitude and mistrust. The target group includes Black and Hispanic women aged 35 to 54 who are influential in their own families and communities.
The campaign also targets white men and women between the ages of 18 and 34 years old. The coalition’s goal is to see 80% of the adult population vaccinated to reach herd immunity while honoring people and their personal choice.
