First National of Nebraska, with its subsidiary FNBO (First National Bank of Omaha), announced today it has closed its acquisition of Blue Ridge Bancshares, Inc., and its wholly-owned subsidiary Blue Ridge Bank and Trust Co., headquartered in Independence, Missouri.

“This process has only made us more excited to have Blue Ridge join FNBO,” said Joe Close, Regional Leader for FNBO in Kansas City. "We continue to be impressed by the Blue Ridge team, and we look forward to continuing to add to the positive relationships, culture and reputation they've spent decades building.”

Announced on June 2, the acquisition adds Blue Ridge Bank and Trust Co.'s eight Jackson County branches to FNBO's existing Kansas City market. One of the largest independently owned community banks in Missouri, Blue Ridge Bank and Trust Co. was founded in 1958 and has approximately $850 million in assets. This new acquisition will make FNBO fifth in deposit market share in Kansas City.

“FNBO has had a home in the Kansas City area for over 30 years, but our growth in the metro has been especially exciting over the last few years,” said Clark Lauritzen, Chairman and President of FNBO. “Everything we've experienced here has only further demonstrated this is the right place to invest in, from a customer, employee and community perspective.”

FNBO plans to rebrand the Blue Ridge Bank and Trust Co. branches and complete customer conversions in early 2027. Once converted, FNBO will have 37 branches in the Kansas City metro area.
