Acquisition brings together two powerhouse broker-first general agencies, expanding carrier and product resources for benefits brokers across California, backed by nearly a century of local expertise

Warner Pacific, a leading national general agency and one of the fastest-growing distributors of employee benefits in the United States, today announced its acquisition of Beere&Purves, a California-based general agency serving benefits brokers statewide. The transaction marks Warner Pacific’s first major general agency acquisition in its home state of California and brings together two organizations with a shared broker-first approach to the benefits business.

Founded in 1929 and headquartered in Walnut Creek, California, Beere&Purves is one of California's premier general agencies providing employee benefits solutions and dedicated support to California brokers. The firm has built a reputation for deep local market expertise, personalized service and a commitment to helping its partners grow their businesses and better serve their clients. Pete Cella, who has led Beere&Purves as President, will remain in a leadership role as part of Warner Pacific.

“Beere&Purves has built an exceptional team and a business that shares our fundamental belief that the broker comes first,” said Edward Lehman, CEO of Warner Pacific. “Their hard-earned market expertise, strong broker relationships and commitment to service make them a natural fit with Warner Pacific. We look forward to building on those strengths and bringing even more capabilities to the brokers they serve.”

The combination is expected to broaden the carrier and product offerings available to Beere&Purves’ broker partners, while also providing them with Warner Pacific’s robust technology and service capabilities. Brokers will continue to work with the Beere&Purves team they know and trust while gaining the additional resources of Warner Pacific’s national platform.

“For nearly a century, Beere&Purves has been committed to being the broker’s partner, and finding an organization that genuinely shares that philosophy was incredibly important to us,” said Pete Cella, President of Beere&Purves. “Warner Pacific has built its business around broker success, with the resources and expertise to navigate an ever-shifting benefits landscape. By joining the Warner Pacific team, we can preserve what has made Beere&Purves special while giving our broker partners access to a wider range of products, capabilities and support to compete and grow.”

MarshBerry acted as financial advisor to Beere&Purves on the acquisition.
