UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / April 1, 2025 / Rachel L. Ivory, PhD, is the owner of Ivory Publishing LLC. She has dedicated her career to enlightening young minds. The "I Want To Be" series introduces children aged 9 to 14 to various professions. The aim is to broaden their horizons and ignite aspirations. This endeavor reflects a lifelong commitment to education.

Early Influences Inspire Future Generations
In 2024, Dr. Ivory founded Ivory Publishing LLC, channeling her passion for education into children's literature. The "I Want To Be" series aims to give young readers insights into various careers. Titles like "King's Dream: I Want to Be a Teacher" and "River's Dream: I Want to Be a Lawyer" offer real-life examples and engaging activities to inspire and inform. This love for sharing the power of the written word stems from her upbringing.
Growing up, Dr. Ivory spent summers with her grandmother. As a child, she filled those months with trips to the library and mandatory book reports. She credits her grandmother with instilling in her a deep appreciation for reading. By the end of the season, she developed a fondness for the mystery and suspense genres. Later, reading seven books every summer became second nature.
Despite graduating 15th in a class of over 500, she lacked guidance from school counselors. However, her grandmother's steadfast belief in her potential propelled her toward higher education. This support led to obtaining a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Radford University in 2007 and a Master of Public Administration from Walden University in 2009. It culminated in earning a doctorate in public policy and public administration, also from Walden University, in 2017. This achievement fulfilled a promise to her grandmother and stands as one of her proudest achievements.
Service and Professional Experience
Dr. Ivory's professional path marks a significant dedication to service as a trainer and mentor. From 1988 to 2002, she served in the U.S. Army as a senior instructor. In this role, she focused on finance, accounting and personnel retention. She received the Army Achievement Medal multiple times throughout her tenure.
Concurrently, Dr. Ivory has maintained a 36-year career with the United States Postal Service. In this capacity, she holds the role of logistics training analyst. She has also received multiple Diversity and Special Achievement Awards.
Aside from her professional roles, Dr. Ivory is a certified mediator with the Supreme Court of Virginia and an MBTI Certified Practitioner through the Myers & Briggs Foundation. As an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. member, she also garnered several distinctions, including an AKA Educational Advancement Foundation (EAF) Distinction Award and the AKA EAF Challenge Award.
Expansion of a Literary Vision
Dr. Ivory aims to create a platform to collaborate with others to develop personalized children's books. The literature will continue catering to diverse career interests. "There are so many other people out here in the world looking for inspiration for their children," she says. "I love to be able to write books for other people."
This initiative reflects Dr. Ivory's belief in the power of representation. Additionally, she values the importance of providing children with relatable role models in literature. Through her multifaceted career, she continues to inspire and guide future generations. The profound impact she's had on mentorship, education and community engagement embodies the values she learned at a young age.
