BenCura University Spotlighting - The School of Clinical Excellence

KENNESAW, GA / ACCESS Newswire / February 24, 2026 / As clinicians, staying current with best practices, evolving regulations, and changing reimbursement models is essential. At BenCura, we recognize that continuous education is critical for clinicians, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities to remain relevant and operational in today's healthcare landscape. That understanding led to the creation of a dedicated school within BenCura University (BCU): The School of Clinical Excellence. This article highlights what the school is, who it serves, and how it helps address challenges faced by hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.

What is the School of Clinical Excellence?

The School of Clinical Excellence offers discipline-specific courses, with select offerings eligible for continuing education units (CEUs) later this year. Courses are designed to strengthen clinical reasoning, documentation, and specialty practice areas, and include BenCura's signature Midday Masterclasses.

"The healthcare landscape is ever-evolving - from policies and billing requirements to the clinical trends we see every day," said Melinda Butler Henderson, Chief Development Officer at BenCura. "Our goal is to ensure therapists stay on the cutting edge of technology, treatment interventions, and emerging best practices so they can deliver the highest level of care to their patients."

What are Midday Masterclasses?

A cornerstone of the School of Clinical Excellence is the Midday Masterclass series, focused, lunch-and-learn sessions on targeted topics. These classes are currently offered monthly to partnered facilities, with in-person sessions occurring quarterly. In-person offerings are highly interactive, allowing therapists hands-on practice with featured techniques. IDT training is also offered during in-person workshops.

"The Masterclasses are bite-sized, highly relevant learning opportunities aligned with what therapists are seeing in real time," Henderson explained.

Current Midday Masterclasses include:

  • Skilled ADL Training for Older Adults

  • Documentation Blah Blah Blah

  • DME and Home Modifications for Aging Adults

  • Beyond the Plateau: The Truth About Skilled Maintenance Therapy

  • Treatment Modes Matter: The Facts About Concurrent, Co-treatment, and Group Therapy

Upcoming Masterclasses this year include:

  • Taking the "Geez" out of GG Coding

  • I See: ICD-10 Coding

  • CPT Cheat Codes Revealed

  • Restore the Flow: Upper Extremity Lymphedema Management

This curriculum continues to evolve based on therapist feedback. In fact, Restore the Flow: Lymphedema Management course was developed in response to rising outpatient needs identified by frontline clinicians.

"We created a hands-on course to meet that demand," Henderson said.

Since launching BenCura University in 2025, Henderson notes strong engagement and sustained interest from clinicians participating in the program.

"We know they're growing through the Midday Masterclasses, and that's exactly the outcome we want."

Who is the School of Clinical Excellence For?

While many offerings are designed for therapy professionals, several courses support the entire interdisciplinary team (IDT), including:

  • Beyond the Fall Mats: Fall Interventions That Really Work

  • Championing PDPM: The First 72 Hours

  • Stronger Scores, Stronger Bottom Line: Mastering Quality Measures

  • Part B is Not a Plan B

  • Critical Access Boot Camp

Courses within the School of Clinical Excellence, and all BenCura University offerings, are available to partnered facilities at no additional cost. Non-partnered facilities can access BenCura University's online platform at reasonable rates.

How Does the School of Clinical Excellence Help Solve Common Challenges for SNFs and Hospitals?

Many challenges faced by SNFs and hospitals, such as reimbursement pressures, falls, rehospitalizations, and quality measure performance are directly addressed through the School of Clinical Excellence. This enables partnered facilities to build internal expertise and tackle these issues proactively, at no added cost.

"Many of our partners are rural or critical access facilities with strong community ties," Henderson shared. "By demonstrating a commitment to advanced clinical education, they foster empowerment, not just within their teams but across their communities. The result is stronger clinicians and a greater local impact."
