HARIO Lampwork Factory, HARIO’s handcrafted glass jewelry line, returns to the U.S. with a 31‑piece collection shaped by women artisans working in earthquake‑impacted regions and other local communities across Japan

HARIO Co., Ltd., the Japanese heatproof glass manufacturer renowned for its V60 Coffee Dripper and more than a century of glassmaking expertise, today announced the U.S. relaunch of HARIO Lampwork Factory, its line of handcrafted heatproof-glass jewelry. Returning to the United States for the first time since 2022, the collection will relaunch with an initial lineup of 31 artisan-made necklaces, earrings, and rings, with additional designs planned for future release. From Laboratory Glass to Wearable Art: Preserving Glassmaking Artistry Through Women's Employment Across Disaster-Affected Regions of Japan

Founded in 2015, HARIO Lampwork Factory was established with two core missions: to preserve the heatproof‑glass artistry HARIO has developed over more than a century of production, and to create skilled employment opportunities for women as glass accessory artisans.

HARIO's glassmaking history dates to 1921, when the company's artisans produced laboratory equipment and tableware entirely by hand. As manufacturing modernized and mechanization became the industry standard, the handcraft traditions and artisanal skills that defined the company's early years became increasingly rare. Recognizing the importance of preserving these techniques, HARIO chose to return to its roots and revive authentically handcrafted glasswork, ensuring that the skills developed over more than a century continue to be practiced and transferred to future generations.

That commitment to skilled employment takes on added meaning in the communities where HARIO Lampwork Factory's artisans work. Across nine production bases in Japan, many located in regions significantly impacted by major natural disasters including the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011, the brand operates in areas where creating skilled employment for women is both a social priority and a pressing local need. Communities in these regions continue to face the long-term challenge of retaining younger generations as economic opportunities remain limited. By establishing studios in Ishikawa and Fukushima Prefectures, HARIO Lampwork Factory is working to address that challenge directly, creating meaningful, community-rooted employment that supports individual independence, encourages local talent to remain, and contributes to long-term regional revitalization.

“Bringing HARIO Lampwork Factory back to the United States is about more than a product relaunch. It is an invitation for customers in the United States to connect with a century-old glassmaking heritage, the work of skilled artisans and the communities they come from, and celebrate the one-of-a-kind beauty that only handcraft can create," said Nobuyasu Shibata, President and CEO of HARIO USA, Inc.

A 31-Piece Collection Handcrafted from All-Natural Heatproof Glass

Every HARIO Lampwork Factory accessory is made from HARIO Glass®, HARIO's proprietary heatproof glass crafted from 100 percent natural materials. Produced exclusively at HARIO's manufacturing facility in Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture, the only heatproof glass production facility in Japan, HARIO Glass is manufactured in a factory that operates without chimneys or exhaust gas emissions. Unlike metals that require casting or stamping, or stones that are cut into fixed shapes, HARIO Glass can be stretched, fused, and joined while molten, giving artisans a degree of creative freedom that conventional jewelry materials cannot match. The result is a line of pieces that are at once structurally delicate and exceptionally light, making each one as comfortable to wear as it is distinctive to look at.

The U.S. debut collection spans 31 pieces across necklaces, earrings, and rings, each shaped entirely by hand. Standout pieces include:

  • The Ring Flow glass ring, inspired by the quiet movement of glacial ice beneath the surface of the water
  • The Yureha necklace and earring series, created in collaboration with Japanese painter Maako Kido: Named for the Japanese words for swaying and leaf, the Yureha designs evoke the gentle motion of foliage and the shifting patterns of light that filter through early spring leaves.

Because each piece is formed individually at the torch, natural variations in form and color occur. No two pieces are exactly alike.

HARIO plans to expand the collection beyond the initial 31 pieces, with new designs to be introduced in future releases.

Prices range from USD $70 to $150. The full collection is available exclusively at hario-lwf.us beginning July 28, 2026.
