ION Protocol is a Brale-operated interoperability layer necessary to scale stablecoin value movement

Brale today announces ION Protocol enabling DeFi mint burn routes across the most diverse group of stablecoins in the world. Brale’s new protocol eradicates the liquidity funding obligations for bespoke stablecoins in liquidity pools. Partners at launch include Solana, Monad, Rain, Coinflow, Turnkey, Spark, and Canton, with more to come.

ION Protocol removes a multibillion-dollar hurdle for stablecoin adoption. Today, moving assets across blockchains typically depends on liquidity pools, which fragment capital and introduce slippage and bridge risk. As ecosystems scale, duplicating deep liquidity across every ecosystem becomes impossible, leading to a ceiling on stablecoin adoption. ION Protocol removes these constraints.

ION Protocol uses an attested burn-attest-mint model: Assets are burned on the source chain before an equivalent amount is minted on the destination chain with the issuer's authorization. This eliminates duplicate circulating assets, reduces custodial bridge risk, and maintains a single canonical source of truth across blockchain networks. It’s all powered by Brale’s technology, which has already enabled more than $10 billion in mint and burn activity.

"Liquidity between stablecoin programs is the #1 barrier to scaling bespoke stablecoins. We have to fix it to realize the potential of protocols and stablecoins," said Ben Milne, founder and CEO of Brale. "ION Protocol saves the ecosystem tens of billions of dollars today - and trillions in liquidity obligations in the years to come."

Brale is targeting ION testnet availability in the third quarter, enabling partners to begin evaluating and integrating the protocol. Technical documentation is available on the Brale blog, with broader availability planned for a future release.

With ION, Brale expands its platform from regulated stablecoin issuance to the infrastructure that enables those assets to move across blockchain ecosystems. As stablecoin adoption grows across chains, ION makes interoperability a native property of issuer-backed assets rather than a function of fragmented liquidity or third-party bridges.
