Popular Care Coordination App, WayWiser, Announces Plans For Financial Monitoring Tools

WayWiser is set to launch a suite of services to help keep older adults safe from scams and exploitation

October 18, 2022 – WayWiser is a care coordination and collaboration platform that has been growing steadily in popularity since their beta launch in early 2022. Built by, and intended primarily for those caring for an aging parent or loved one, WayWiser includes valuable family communication features such as a shared calendar, collaborative notes & lists, secure document storage, and a daily update feed.

While care collaboration speaks to the heart of the 53 million unpaid caregivers across the US, WayWiser’s ultimate mission is to protect the hard-earned assets, financial independence, and dignity of people as they age. Excitedly, they are moving another step closer to their goal with the introduction of their financial monitoring tools that will help keep older adults safe from scams, fraud, and exploitation.

The problem is bigger than you may imagine. According to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), older Americans’ cybercrime losses soared to $3 billion in 2021 with over $432 million lost to elderly victims of confidence fraud and romance scams.

“The first step towards financial security,” states Lindsay Faeder, Co-Founder and CEO of WayWiser, “is to create a space where families can connect with each other and stay in the loop about what is going on with mom or dad on a daily basis. Now that we’ve built that foundation of care collaboration tools, we’re shifting our attention towards financial monitoring.”

WayWiser’s ultimate vision is robust and their initial launch is a product that will allow adult children to monitor their aging parent’s bank accounts and credit cards, alerting them to suspicious transactions, and allowing them to share that information across their Trusted Circle to see if it needs to be tended to before anything gets out of hand.

“Nearly everyone we speak to has a story about a loved one being scammed,” continues Faeder, “We are excited to give families the tools needed to build a defense system around their parents and loved ones.”

WayWiser’s caregiving collaboration tools are currently available for free on iPhone, Android, and desktop devices and a waitlist for their financial features is live on their website with plans to launch in late 2022.
