MANHATTAN, Kan., Sept. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CivicPlus®, a public sector SaaS leader, today announced the formation of CivicPlus Innovation Labs, a new initiative that pairs resident research, industry expertise, and hands-on customer insight with the growing capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI). CivicPlus Innovation Labs reflects the company’s long-term vision for impact-led government and represents the strategic vision of CivicPlus Chief Product & Technology Officer Desta Price to reimagine, accelerate, and scale how CivicPlus solves problems for its customers.
Local government leaders are being challenged to do more with less, move faster, and still deliver the high-quality service their communities deserve. Compliance requirements continue to evolve, and the needs of the residents are more varied by the year. Emerging technologies, including AI, are reshaping digital transformation across local government, changing the pace at which new capabilities can be built and integrated. These technologies are also expanding what's achievable for local government overall.
Just as AI is transforming how local governments build efficiency and reimagine resident engagement, it is giving CivicPlus that same capacity to rethink how it brings solutions to the communities it serves: faster, more seamless, and more connected than ever before.
"The biggest opportunities rarely fit neatly within the boundaries of an existing product roadmap,” said CivicPlus Chief Product & Technology Officer Desta Price. “CivicPlus Innovation Labs gives us the freedom and dedicated focus to pursue those opportunities differently, starting with real customer problems, rapidly testing what’s possible, and bringing customers into the process from the very beginning. We can use emerging technologies like AI to dramatically accelerate that cycle, learn faster, and invest more deeply in the ideas that prove their value.”
CivicPlus Innovation Labs leverages AI to work on solutions to the problems local governments and the public sector have lived with for years: slow processes, disconnected systems, and residents expecting self-service. The Innovation Labs will be delivered through partnership with CivicPlus' existing product teams whose deep expertise in local government has shaped every solution included in the Civic Impact Platform for over 25 years. That expertise helped deliver six new AI products to market in January 2026, earning CivicPlus a spot on the shortlist for The 2026 A.I. Awards, in the Best Use of AI in Public Sector or Government Services category. Finalists will be announced September 22, with winners named in October.
"Public servants are the heart of every community we serve, and they deserve the best that innovation can bring them,” said CivicPlus Chief Executive Officer Brian Rempe. "We built the Civic Impact Platform to help local government leaders stay ahead of evolving regulations and service demands, a continuation of work we’ve proudly done for over 25 years. CivicPlus Innovation Labs is driving a new phase in how our products are staying ahead of what our customers need, before they ask for it.”
