Casa della Speranza Earns NCARR Level 2 Certification, Setting New Standard for Recovery Housing in North Carolina

Fayetteville, NC — April 2026 — Casa della Speranza - NC House of Hope has officially earned NCARR Level 2 certification, marking a significant milestone for recovery housing in the Fayetteville area and across North Carolina. The certification, awarded by the North Carolina Alliance of Recovery Residences (NCARR), represents the highest operational and ethical standards for sober living environments in the state.

Founded by April Iannazzone, Casa della Speranza — Italian for "House of Hope" — provides transitional housing for men in recovery in Fayetteville, with a second location opening in Charlotte in May 2026. The NCARR Level 2 certification process, which took several months to complete, involved rigorous evaluation of the organization's safety protocols, resident support systems, operational policies, and accountability structures.

"This certification represents everything I believe recovery housing should be," said April Iannazzone, founder of Casa della Speranza. "I've watched someone very close to me navigate different sober living environments — some were okay, some were harmful. That experience showed me how critical it is to have real structure, real accountability, and real support. NCARR Level 2 certification isn't just a credential — it's a promise that we're providing the foundation people need to rebuild their lives."

Why NCARR Level 2 Certification Matters

NCARR Level 2 certification is not automatically granted to recovery residences in North Carolina. It requires demonstrated compliance with national best practices established by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR), including structured programming, regular drug and alcohol screening, peer support integration, house rules enforcement, and coordination with external recovery support services.

For residents and their families, the certification provides assurance that Casa della Speranza meets verified standards for safety, accountability, and ethical operation. For referral partners — NCARR Level 2 certification signals a trusted, professional resource for individuals transitioning out of treatment or incarceration.

"NCARR Level 2 certification means our residents — and the families who love them — can trust that we're meeting the highest standards for safety, structure, and support," Iannazzone explained. "I started Casa della Speranza because I've lived the other side of this. I know what families go through."

A Personal Mission Rooted in Lived Experience

April Iannazzone's commitment to quality recovery housing stems from personal experience. Having witnessed a loved one navigate the recovery journey through various sober living environments, she saw firsthand the difference between homes that truly supported long-term sobriety and those that fell short.

"Some homes provided real structure and accountability. Others didn't," Iannazzone said. "That inconsistency can be the difference between someone staying sober and someone relapsing. I wanted to create — a place where people feel supported, not just housed."

Casa della Speranza's NCARR Level 2 certification ensures that every resident has access to a recovery-oriented living environment with clear expectations, peer accountability, and connection to community resources. The homes are designed not just as housing, but as a launchpad for rebuilding lives.

Expanding Access Across North Carolina

With the Fayetteville location now fully operational and certified, Casa della Speranza is preparing to open a second men's recovery residence in Charlotte in May 2026. The Charlotte location will also pursue NCARR Level 2 certification, expanding access to high-quality recovery housing in Mecklenburg County.

Both homes serve adult men in recovery and provide single and double occupancy rooms, on-site parking, and proximity to public transportation. Residents benefit from structured house meetings, peer support, accountability check-ins, and coordination with outpatient treatment providers and case management services.

April Iannazzone is also the founder of SC House of Hope, which will launch in South Carolina within the next 90 days, further extending the Casa della Speranza mission across state lines. Future plans include women's recovery housing.

Meeting a Critical Community Need

Recovery housing plays a vital role in the continuum of care for individuals overcoming substance use disorder. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), stable housing is one of the most important factors in sustained recovery. Yet access to high-quality, certified recovery residences remains limited in many communities.

In Cumberland County and across North Carolina, the opioid epidemic continues to impact families and communities. NCARR-certified homes like Casa della Speranza provide a critical bridge between clinical treatment and independent living, offering the structure and support necessary for long-term success.

"We're not just offering a bed," Iannazzone said. "We're offering a foundation — a place where someone can wake up each day and choose recovery, surrounded by people who believe in them."
