Sheridan, WY - BattlePACs, a subsidiary of StandardDAO, today announced the most robust partnership in the company's history. Through BattlePACs “The Voices of America Scholarship,” the School for Public Purpose and Professional Advancement (SPP) at Albion College will receive an initial grant of $1,000 for any student who demonstrates a passion for engaging in political conversations and shaping the future direction of the country.

Founded in 2022, BattlePACs is working to diversify avenues to democratic participation by incentivizing political dialogue for college students. BattlePACs non-profit arm offers scholarships for undergraduate students who demonstrate a passion for civic engagement and deliberative dialogue. The for-profit arm administers a technology platform that leverages non-fungible tokens to transform how individuals access and engage in political discourse.

“This past year, we’ve seen Albion College students use their individual and collective voices to help build the campus and community that we all deserve,” said Dr. Ashley Woodson, associate vice president of Academic Outreach and Strategic Development at Albion College. “This partnership is one way that we can showcase the College-wide commitment to elevating student leadership to international platforms.”

Student members of the James L. Curtis Institute for Race and Belonging, the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Public Policy and Service and the Center for Sustainability and Environment are eligible to participate.

“Today marks the beginning of our vision for political civility through young students,” said BattlePACs Co-founder Aaron Rafferty. “There’s never been a more important time for students of all backgrounds to become engaged in politics while at the same time respecting different opinions and beliefs in the political landscape.  Albion College represents everything we envision as a partner who believes in offering students an opportunity to learn about politics, leadership and community.”

BattlePACs is in the early stages of implementing a national, competitive scholarship program. They are seeking undergraduate student ambassadors to represent the process and principles of the organization. The James L. Curtis Institute for Race and Belonging, the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Public Policy and Service and the Center for Sustainability and Environment will nominate a total of up to six students to complete an ambassador workshop and to participate in a public, live-streamed engagement event sponsored by BattlePACs.

About The School for Public Purpose and Professional Advancement at Albion College

The School for Public Purpose and Professional Advancement (SPP) at Albion College was established in November 2020. Anchored in the idea that colleges and universities have a responsibility to cultivate a commitment to public purpose in their graduates, SPP offers students and Albion community members new opportunities in experiential learning that promote the values of public purpose and leadership, community partnership and belonging.

The mission of SPP is to equip campus and civic leaders with the tools necessary to name and pursue purpose: our moral response to the world, its challenges and its possibilities. SPP is the administrative home of the College’s experiential learning institutes and centers, and coordinates credentials related to experiential learning.
