PHPME is an alliance of industry, business, community, and academic stakeholders and local, state, and federal entities to address the need for a well-trained talent pool of future maritime leaders. As the organization seeks continual improvement, the PHPME Board of Directors formed an Executive Advisory Council of senior executives from various aspects of the maritime industry to provide strategic guidance on further enhancing the program.

As the organization has grown and matured over the past 14 years, it has brought much success in raising awareness of maritime education in our local community. Today, there are nine Maritime and Logistics Career and Technical Education (CTE) high school programs serving more than 900 students in the fields of Maritime Science, Logistics, Transportation, Distribution, Engineering, and other related fields of study, such as Security, Environment, and Global Supply Chain in many cases providing dual credit courses and industry-specific certifications.

In addition to supporting these Maritime and Logistics CTE programs, PHPME coordinates career-focused field trips, expos, seminars, internships, and scholarship opportunities. Since its inception, PHPME has provided over $255,000 in support of local maritime education.

Maritime careers offer a path for people from all walks of life. Whether you've recently graduated high school or college, are looking to transition from one career to another, or have recently retired from the military, maritime jobs offer a top salary, benefits, and opportunities to advance. Maritime careers are dynamic, exciting, and diverse. Port Houston is a proud participant in the work of PHPME.
