Millions of streams later across global platforms, along with thirty-three singles and EPs, award-winning female guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, Michelle Qureshi, announces the release of her fifteenth album, “Zindagi.” Simply put, “Zindagi” means “life.” Its origin is Persian, and this word is well- known throughout South Asia. With this collection of music, Michelle explores the vibrancy and colors of life through ten deftly composed, multi-layered pieces.
The compositions range from joyful and light-hearted to introspective and meditative. Michelle paints this colorful musical canvas with brushstrokes of sound from her studio instruments including guitars – acoustic, electric, and bowed – synths, drums, bells, chimes, keyboards, harmonica, and even a theremin, to bring us a gorgeous collection of uplifting pieces, that reflect her love of music and of life itself.
Qureshi is also a practicing yogi, an avid meditator, and a student of both Shamanism and Active Dreaming, as well as a classically trained guitarist who combines her formal training with intuitive and improvisational elements. She performs in public as both as a solo guitarist and as a presenter of “sound experiences” she calls a “Harmonic Sound Immersion™”, which is a transformative sound meditation created by the healing vibrations of both ancient and modern instruments. Qureshi describes these sound healing events as a kind of “horizontal concert.”
Michelle said, “Here, in ‘Zindagi,’ I am exploring the outer ranges of what were once familiar sounds in my musical palette. I’m discovering that creativity is truly limitless if we don’t confine ourselves to what we already know. Every track on ‘Zindagi’ reflects this moment of my journey.”
