The new capability is available within the company’s existing solution built for physician advisor teams, Dragonfly Advise®, and helps physician advisors prepare to discuss denied cases with health plan medical directors.
Peer-to-peer conversations must often take place within 24 to 72 hours of a denial, leaving physician advisors limited time to review the medical record and prepare the clinical case supporting a patient’s level of care. According to the American Medical Association, nearly half of physicians who do not pursue an appeal cite a lack of time or staff resources, while data compiled by KFF shows that more than 80% of formally appealed denials are ultimately overturned.
Xsolis’ new capability scans the medical record for key clinical facts, including laboratory results, vital signs, treatment, and patient progress. It then creates a concise patient overview and day-by-day summary of the clinical severity indicators and medical necessity rationale supporting continued inpatient care. Generated automatically when a peer-to-peer review is escalated within Dragonfly Advise, the summary helps the physician advisor quickly understand the case before speaking with the payer.

This launch marks the third generative AI capability Xsolis has introduced within Dragonfly, its AI-powered platform for healthcare providers and health plans. The company previously developed solutions to support appeal letter preparations and streamline initial medical necessity reviews. In a three-month pilot with Beacon Health System, the medical necessity review solution reduced average review time by 68%, from 15 minutes to 4.7 minutes.
The GenAI Peer-to-Peer Clinical Synopsis is available as an add-on capability within Dragonfly Advise and can be enabled at the hospital or facility level. The solution’s next set of enhancements include the ability for Xsolis’ Peer-to-Peer Clinical Synopsis to be consumed within other systems that Physician Advisors utilize for peer-to-peer conversations.
