RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- uMETHOD Health, Inc., a healthtech company delivering AI-based clinical decision support service for cognitive impairment in older adults, today announced the publication of a peer-reviewed real-world study documenting favorable outcomes from its RestoreU program.

RestoreU delivers repeatable, auditable clinical decision support. The platform combines comprehensive medical knowledge, patient-specific data, and AI-enabled analysis to enable clinicians to identify, prioritize, and address treatable causes of cognitive impairment within existing clinical workflows.

Turning Clinical Complexity Into Actionable Care Plans

According to the Alzheimer's Association, 7.4 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's/dementia, and health care, long-term care, and hospice costs for people with Alzheimer's and other dementias will reach $409 billion in 2026 — not counting the value of unpaid family caregiving. That national burden ultimately lands in the exam room one patient at a time. Patients in the study averaged 74.6 years of age, 9.0 comorbid conditions, 11.7 medications, and 23 clinically significant drug-drug interactions — more interacting variables than any clinician can reconcile by hand during a routine office visit.

Cognitive impairment has multiple treatable causes, including medication effects, metabolic health, nutritional deficiencies, sleep, cardiovascular risk, beta amyloid, and other contributors. RestoreU analyzes a patient's complete longitudinal medical record — diagnoses, medications, lab results, genomics, and lifestyle factors — to generate a personalized, prioritized care plan for the clinician, patient, and caregiver. The platform is aligned with Medicare's cognitive assessment and care planning services, and has been commercially deployed since 2016. Peer-Reviewed Study

The study by Zelek, Walker, and Crocker-Sabbagh, "Real-World Cognitive Stabilization via CDSS-Guided Multidomain Interventions in MCI and Older Adults with Cognitive Concerns," has been published in the journal Current Aging Science.

The study is a retrospective, nonrandomized implementation-and-outcomes analysis of 345 paired cognitive tests, each comparing a patient with themselves on the same validated instrument at baseline and follow-up, over a mean interval of 14.1 months. It found that 83.5% of patients improved, remained stable, or declined slowly without transitioning into a worse diagnostic stage, while another 1.7% declined more slowly than typical and transitioned into the next diagnostic state.
