DJI, a leader in commercial and industrial drones, is gearing up for a potential game-changer with its upcoming Matrice 3D. Leaks suggest that this drone, designed for commercial applications, could redefine the industry.

DJI’s Matrice series has long been associated with advanced drone technology, but these drones have typically been on the bulkier side. This was necessary to accommodate heavy payloads and a wide array of features. However, recent developments have indicated a shift towards more compact and portable designs. Last year, DJI introduced the Matrice 30, an industrial drone that could be conveniently packed into a case that is smaller than the charger for a DJI Matrice 350 RTK. This move towards portability and ease of use caught the attention of industry enthusiasts.

Matrice 3D

The leaked images of the Matrice 3D suggest that DJI is taking the concept of portability to a whole new level. This drone appears to be designed with user-friendliness and compact design in mind. However, from the looks of it, the arms do not seem like they can be folded in like a Mavic. One of its standout features is the attached RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) module, which promises centimeter-level accuracy in satellite positioning. This level of precision could prove invaluable for industrial tasks with spotty compass accuracy and ensure the drone lands precisely on DJI docking stations.
There is a possibility of the Matrice 3D being a drone-in-a-box solution, meaning, there would be a docking station specific to the Matrice 3D, however, there is little to no information available on this.

Camera System

When it comes to the camera system, the Matrice 3D seems to adopt a setup similar to the Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal edition. This configuration typically includes a wide-angle camera, a zoom camera, and a thermal camera. Such versatility is a significant advantage for a drone intended for various industrial applications.

While these leaks have generated significant excitement in the drone community, it’s essential to bear in mind that the official release might reveal additional features or distinctions. DJI is renowned for its commitment to innovation, and the Matrice 3D is expected to be another exciting addition to their product line. As we eagerly await the official announcement, stay tuned for further updates on this intriguing development in the world of industrial drones.
