SINGAPORE, Singapore - September 17, 2026 - PractoPal, a Singapore-based optical retail technology company, is expanding its cloud-based operating platform into international markets as it continues to develop technology specifically for independent optical retailers and growing optical chains.
PractoPal was created to address a common operational challenge within optical retail: businesses often manage patient care, retail transactions, inventory, appointments, and customer engagement through separate systems and manual processes.
The PractoPal platform brings these workflows together within a single cloud-based environment, connecting point of sale, inventory management, customer and patient records, prescriptions, appointments, payments, vouchers, customer engagement and business analytics.
The company has been developing the platform from Singapore with a focus on the operational requirements of optical businesses, where healthcare and retail workflows frequently overlap.
“Optical retail has very specific operational requirements because retailers are managing both patient care and a retail business,” said Marcus Wong, Founder of PractoPal. “Our focus has been to understand those workflows properly and build practical technology around them. As we enter more markets, we are continuing that same approach by listening to retailers on the ground and adapting the platform to how their businesses actually operate.”
PractoPal's international development follows its work with optical retailers in Singapore and Malaysia, alongside broader expansion into additional markets. The company is also developing localisation capabilities to support different languages, operating requirements and market-specific workflows as the platform expands.
Product development remains a core part of the company's strategy. PractoPal has continued to release updates across areas including appointment management, patient and prescription records, inventory workflows, customer analysis, product analysis, vouchers and customer engagement.
The platform also incorporates automation and artificial intelligence into selected operational workflows. AutoSKU-er, for example, uses AI to extract product information from supplier invoices and prepare structured inventory data, reducing the amount of repetitive manual data entry involved when retailers onboard stock.
Implementation is another area of focus as retailers transition from existing systems. PractoPal uses a structured onboarding process covering system configuration, data migration and go-live transition. Existing customer, transaction, inventory and prescription information can be reviewed and migrated, while parallel operation can be used during the transition where appropriate.
Rather than positioning technology as a replacement for the role of optical professionals, PractoPal's development approach is focused on reducing administrative work and giving retail teams clearer access to the information required for daily operations and patient engagement.
As the company continues its expansion, PractoPal plans to further develop localisation, automation, integrations and analytical capabilities while maintaining its focus on optical-specific workflows.
“Our ambition is not simply to take software built for one market and deploy it everywhere,” Wong added. “We want to build a platform that can support the realities of optical retailers across different markets while keeping the core experience simple, connected and practical.”
