Patented technology connects AI-driven actions to verified authority and trusted financial execution

Authvia today announced the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 12,711,476, “Conversational Payment Transactions,” expanding its intellectual property portfolio around technology that connects digital and AI-driven interactions to secure, authorized financial execution.

As AI moves from answering questions to acting on behalf of people and businesses, commerce faces a critical challenge: initiating a transaction is not the same as having the authority to complete it.

Before money moves, businesses, consumers and financial institutions need to know who—or what—is acting, what authority has been granted, and whether the transaction meets the required security, policy and compliance controls. Authvia provides this authorization layer, connecting consumer intent, verified authority and financial execution.

“AI can create intent, make recommendations and initiate action—but intent is not authorization,” said Chris Brunner, founder and CEO of Authvia. “Commerce requires trusted infrastructure that connects identity, authority, context and financial execution. That is what our team has spent more than a decade building.”

From Conversational Transactions to Agentic Commerce

U.S. Patent No. 12,711,476 covers technology for managing transactions through conversational interactions. The patented system receives transaction information, communicates the transaction to a consumer, interprets a specific authorization within the conversational context, connects that authorization to the correct transaction, initiates payment, and updates the transaction record.

The technology was developed for a world in which commerce increasingly happens within the interaction itself rather than at a traditional checkout or payment destination. That model is becoming increasingly important as AI agents take a more active role in commercial decisions and transactions.

An AI system may identify an outstanding bill, recommend a payment method, respond to a request, or initiate a purchase. Before that action becomes a financial transaction, however, it must be connected to verified identity, valid authority, and appropriate controls.

That authority may come directly from a person or through permissions delegated to an AI agent under defined policies. Authvia provides the critical checkpoint between intent and execution, bringing together identity, conversational context, tokenized payment credentials, authorization, policy controls, payment orchestration and auditable transaction records.

“AI will dramatically expand the number of commercial decisions initiated through conversations and software agents,” Brunner said. “Our role is to help turn those decisions into secure, compliant and accountable transactions—with a clear source of authority, enforceable controls and an auditable outcome.”

Authvia Expands Its Patent Portfolio for the Next Era of Commerce

The new patent is Authvia’s sixth issued U.S. patent covering foundational elements of conversational transaction management, contextual interpretation, message-based authorization and payment execution.

Together, these patents reflect more than a decade of work across Authvia’s product, engineering, payments, compliance and operations teams—work that began before the widespread adoption of generative AI, RCS and autonomous software agents.

That foundation enables Authvia to connect authorization, engagement and payment across SMS, RCS, voice and other digital and AI-driven experiences, while working with existing banks, processors, payment platforms and financial rails.

U.S. Patent No. 12,711,476 was issued on Aug. 18, 2026.
