New York, NY – Schweitzer & Schweitzer, PC, a practice made up of respected NYC prosthodontists, has operated in Midtown Manhattan for over a hundred years. The practice offers a variety of dental options, such as implant dentistry and other examples of restorative treatments, with a particular emphasis on prosthodontics, which refers specifically to the treatment of damaged or missing teeth. Also referred to as “prosthetic dentistry,” prosthodontics is a highly nuanced area of dentistry, and those who specialize are required to undergo at least three years of training in addition to traditional dental school.
Beginning with Dr. Jerome M. Schweitzer in 1918, members of the Schweitzer family have studied extensively in order to qualify as prosthodontists and join the practice. The latest addition to the team is Alexa Schweitzer, DMD, whom Drs. Kenneth Schweitzer, Daniel Schweitzer, and Sameet Sheth proudly welcomed to the practice in September 2022.
Dr. Alexa represents the fourth generation of Schweitzers to become a prosthodontist and join the practice, following in the footsteps of her father (Dr. Kenneth Schweitzer), cousin (Dr. Daniel Schweitzer), grandfather (Dr. Robert Schweitzer), great uncle (Dr. Jerome Schweitzer), and great-grandfather (Dr. Jerome Schweitzer, Sr.). Prior to completing a three-year Prosthodontist Residency at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, she studied at Tulane University, obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania, and interned at her family’s practice for four years.
Dr. Alexa Schweitzer says she is excited to enrich her patients’ lives by improving their oral health with advanced procedures and restorations. The rest of the staff at Schweitzer & Schweitzer, PC is confident that she will be a wonderful asset to the team.
