Dr. Littman is a talented physician who has sought to meet the needs of diverse cancer patients, particularly elderly patients. She is a successful physician, educator, speaker, and author. Her research/clinical interests have included pancreatic, liver, and biliary system malignancies, as well as colorectal, anal, esophageal, gastric, and neuroendocrine tumors. She has also served as the director of Hereditary Cancer Services and Expert Panels, and she is very skilled in the genetic evaluation of malignancies and hereditary cancer risk assessment.
Before embarking on her professional career path, Dr. Littman earned her B.S. from Cornell University, her M.S. in Molecular Biology from SUNY Albany, and her M.D. from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. She finished her residency and internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern before moving on to Duke University Medical Center for a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Littman spent several years on the Duke medical faculty before coming to Pennsylvania. She formerly worked at Duke University Medical Center and Thomas Jefferson University.
Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Littman has received many awards and accolades throughout her distinguished career and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding research and devotion to the profession. Dr. Littman was selected to receive the Top Influential Leader in Healthcare Award 2023 by The International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). She was interviewed on T.I.P Radio by Miss Universe. In 2020 she was announced as a Hall of Fame inductee, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Doctor of the Decade. For 2019 she graced the front cover of T.I.P. (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and was honored as an Empowered Woman of the Year. For 2018 and 2017, she was selected as Top Hematologist/Oncologist of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals. She has been P.I. on more than 16 oncology studies and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and selected abstracts. She has been recognized by Doctors of Excellence/Leaders in Healthcare, Leading Physicians of the World, International Association of Healthcare Professionals, National Association of Professional Women, America's Registry, and other groups as a Top Doctor.
Looking back, Dr. Littman attributes her success to her ethics, experiences, mentors along the way, and excitement for what she does. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and practicing yoga. Susan intends to continue providing her patients with exceptional care as well as novel, cutting-edge medicines coupled with the knowledge to make contemplative personal medical decisions about their care. She hopes to inspire people to pursue a career in healthcare while also continuing to improve her skills as a physician.
