The family-owned dealer sells new and used trucks and machinery across three New South Wales branches and supports every sale with parts, a six-day workshop, round-the-clock emergency repairs and finance arranged directly with buyers. Its range covers new Iveco and Fuso trucks, machinery from Kobelco, Merlo and ASV, and a rotating stock of used equipment. Used listings change as trade-ins arrive and stock is updated through the year. STM also fits and customises transport equipment, such as tippers and service bodies, to suit the buyer's trade.

Its customers are largely small business owners, landscapers, and tradespeople who run one or two vehicles rather than large fleets. Vehicle downtime incurs a direct cost for operators, with every idle hour representing lost income. Breakdowns, back-ordered parts, and financing delays are risks that surface after purchase and hit small businesses the hardest. STM's response is to remain involved beyond the handover, with the same team responsible for keeping each truck and machine in service.

The company stocks genuine and aftermarket parts for Iveco, Fuso, Kobelco, ASV, International and Cummins. Inventory covers engine components, braking systems, electrical parts and custom accessories. Deliveries run twice daily across metropolitan Sydney and each afternoon to the Southern Highlands and Wollongong, with expedited shipping available for urgent requirements. Orders can also be collected from any branch. When a component is not held in stock, the parts team sources it. The same team already handles technical equipment support for equipment in service.

The truck service workshop operates six days a week and is equipped to handle vehicles up to B-Double specifications. Emergency repairs are available around the clock, and technicians are dispatched to sites when a machine cannot be brought in. For machinery purchases, STM manages installation and commissioning before ongoing maintenance. Servicing continues on a scheduled basis after commissioning, covering both trucks and machinery bought through the dealership. Customers whose vehicles are in for service have access to four courtesy cars and a waiting lounge with television and refreshments.

"Most of our customers run one or two trucks, so time off the road comes straight out of their income," a company spokesperson said. "The workshop operates six days a week, and emergency repairs run around the clock to limit how long a vehicle stays out of service."

Finance is arranged directly with the buyer, with the finance team meeting customers on site rather than requiring them to organise separate bank funding. Terms can be structured around a business's cash flow, including operators working to seasonal cycles in construction, landscaping and transport. The arrangement keeps the purchase, servicing and funding with a single supplier, from selecting the vehicle to taking delivery.

STM operates three branches across New South Wales. The head office is in Smeaton Grange in Western Sydney, with STM Canberra in Queanbeyan West and STM South Coast in Unanderra. Each location handles sales, servicing and parts. The Smeaton Grange and Unanderra sites cover Sydney and the Illawarra, while the Queanbeyan West branch serves the Canberra region and southern NSW. The company has traded in New South Wales for more than 50 years, operating as Sydney Trucks and Machinery before adopting its current name.
