What Happened?
Shares of bitcoin development company Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) fell 6.5% in the afternoon session after Bitcoin dropped below $84,000 amid broad, leverage-driven selling across the cryptocurrency market.
According to the Crypto Times and CoinDesk, Bitcoin fell more than 3% to approximately $83,700, leading to more than $166 million in liquidated Bitcoin positions across the cryptocurrency market. The digital asset came under pressure as a global bond selloff drove the U.S. 30-year Treasury yield to 5.715% alongside a rising U.S. Dollar Index. The broader bond market rout and stronger dollar contributed to selling pressure that dragged several cryptocurrency-linked stocks toward September lows.

What Is The Market Telling Us
Strategy’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 66 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.
The previous big move we wrote about was 16 days ago when the stock gained 8% on the news that falling Treasury yields eased pressure on software stocks as signs of cooler U.S.–China tensions lifted risk appetite. The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield fell roughly 3 basis points to 4.97%, slipping below the 5% threshold, according to CNBC. A retreat in bond yields provides relief for enterprise software equities, whose valuations are anchored by cash flows projected years into the future.
Strategy is down 2.5% since the beginning of the year, and at $153.16 per share, it is trading 53.7% below its 52-week high of $330.80 from October 2025. Despite the year-to-date decline, investors who bought $1,000 worth of Strategy’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $2,211.
ONE MORE THING: The $21 AI Application Stock Wall Street Forgot. While Wall Street obsesses over who’s building AI, one company is already using it to print money. And nobody’s paying attention.
AI chip stocks trade at ridiculous valuations. This company processes a trillion consumer signals monthly using AI and trades at a third of the price. The gap won’t last. The institutions will figure it out. You need to see this first. Read the FREE Report Before They Notice.
