VANCOUVER — After 22 years providing compliance-focused press release distribution services to publicly traded companies, TheNewswire announced a major strategic shift Tuesday aimed at expanding authentic media coverage for issuers through journalist-focused targeting and proprietary media datasets.

The company said the move distances it from what it described as the widespread use of low-value “zombie sites” that inflate distribution metrics without delivering meaningful newsroom engagement.

Chief executive officer Pat Beechinor said TheNewswire’s long-standing emphasis on newsroom experience has positioned the company differently from many competitors in the sector.

“Every staff member we’ve ever employed has some level of real-world media experience,” Beechinor said. “Others hire sales clerks who’ve never stepped into a newsroom, and it shows.”

Founded in 2004, TheNewswire said it completed a North America-wide journalist database project in September 2025, categorizing reporters by industry specialization to improve media targeting for issuers.

Six Critical Digital News Portals: 4,309 Media Subscribers Daily.

The company said the dataset now enables clients to direct news releases to reporters covering specific sectors and also provides “Media Open” tracking data showing which journalists engaged with a release.

Recent successes include First Tellurium Corp. (FTEL:CSE) who was featured in nine independent media stories and saw a subsequent 11% share price increase due to the Market awareness.

As part of the rebrand, TheNewswire also launched six industry-specific digital news portals operated through its subsidiary LeadsandCopy. The publications collectively reach more than 4,200 journalist subscribers daily, according to the company.

The new publications include SmallCapReporter with 1,547 media subscribers, CanadianMarkets.news with 906 journalists subscribed, AIReporter.news has 606 media subscribers, EnergyReporter.news with 558 media subscribers, BiotechReporter.news with 419 subscribers and CannabisReporter.news with 273 subscribers.

Content for the portals is curated using the company’s trademark-pending NewsGenie process, an internal editorial system developed over seven months to assist editors in identifying and assigning market-related stories.

TheNewswire said its expanded media-focused approach represents a new vertical in corporate communications and positions the company as a leader in data-driven media distribution.

TheNewswire is an accredited Tier One news dissemination service serving 613 public and private issuers across North America.
