Kylen S. Barron Publishes Emotionally Gripping Memoir, Revealing Family Secrets From Her Mother's Buried Past

By: WebWire

How should a person deal with life after losing a family member and learning something about the deceased that they never knew? What does it mean for the grieving and their memories of the person they have lost? Such secrets could take the grieving person many weeks, months, or years of processing even more complex emotions. Indeed, uncovering 'difficult to accept' secrets of a family member could be devastating. Learn it from Kylen S. Barron, author of the drama-filled memoir “Unspoken Truth: From a Buried Past” (BookBaby; 2021).

In “Unspoken Truth,” the author bears the emotional and physical abuse she and her siblings went through at the hands of their parents, especially their mother, Evelyn. Barron suffered a strained relationship with her mother, and she can't understand why Evelyn hated her children. Abuse, neglect, and marital disharmony were so rife in the household that at one time, the author's grandmother had to take her away and threatened to report Evelyn to the police. Evelyn was publicly reproved, and her husband (the author's father) was expelled by their religious denomination for their bad behavior towards one another.

After Evelyn's death in 2009 from renal cell carcinoma, the author realized her mother had created even more distances between themselves: she and the children she left behind and between siblings. And years later, an unusual message request via Facebook Messenger would lead the author to meetings with people who would help her uncover an “unspoken truth” about Evelyn's buried past.

“Unspoken Truth” has received favorable reviews from readers for its gripping narrative and heartbreaking family drama. In a review for The US Review of Books, Amanda Hanson wrote, “The readers will find this memoir intriguing because it navigates the quest for truth, forgiveness, love, and healing.

“The author does not hold back about her past and genuinely offers an honest overview of her journey. She deftly guides the readers through her process and hopes to inspire others.”

'Unspoken Truth' is a raw, intimate exploration of the painful secrets exposed in the wake of a family tragedy,” wrote James Weiskittel for IndieReader. “While readers will discover a trove of scandalous secrets within the book's pages – a list that includes decades-long lies and hidden affairs – 'Unspoken Truth' is ultimately a story of absolution and self-discovery.”
