Umansky graduated cum laude from the University of South Florida with a degree in psychology and a law degree from the University of Florida College of Law. Umansky received high honors, top in class in Mediation, Negotiations, and Dispute Settlement. He also gained experience abroad, attending the Tulane Institute of European Legal Studies in Paris, France.
Before starting his law practice, Umansky put himself before the jury as much as he could. He prosecuted over one hundred cases in Brevard County, Florida. Due to his skills and exposure, he became the Chief of the Domestic Violence Division. Umansky also served as the City Prosecutor, police academy instructor, and was appointed City Prosecutor for the City of Orlando.
