Nirvana: Short Dance Film Directed And Choreographed By Lin Niu Bags Multiple Awards

The dual-talented artist's latest work took home the Los Angeles Film Awards for best musical dance film and the Europe Music Awards for best choreography, in addition to being listed as a finalist in The Artists Forum

November 28, 2022 - Nirvana, a short dance film directed and choreographed by dual-talented classical Chinese dancer, Lin Niu, has won several awards in recognition of its brilliance and expression of the power of women. The incredibly creative work of art took home the Los Angeles Film Awards for best musical dance film and the Europe Music Awards for best choreography, in addition to also being listed as a finalist in The Artists Forum.

Artistically created as a metaphor for an unyielding tenacious spirit and a strong will to fight bravely, Nirvana expresses the power of women through the story of the Phoenix. Although born to die in the flames, the mythical creature rises from the ashes to be reborn and immortalized forever.

In a related development, the phenomenal Chinese creator has revealed that she is also scheduled to star in the first immersive song and dance drama Waking Dreams in Los Angeles, which cleverly connects Eastern and Western philosophical thought/thinking about dreams and reality, soul, and life. On December 11, 2022, Lin Niu will play Dunhuang Feitian, a character in ancient Chinese murals referring to the flying god painted in the Dunhuang Grottoes—the artistic image of the combination of Taoism.

Showcasing her exceptional talent for the first time as a representative of the Shanghai Theater Academy in a cultural exchange performance in Houston, Texas, Lin’s extraordinary performance earned her the opportunity to perform at the Chinese Spring Festival Gala organized by the local government in Phoenix and Los Angeles. Since then, the amazing star has gone on to develop various incredible projects and won multiple awards in the process.

Her most iconic work, The Dancing Class, earned her several awards in various festivals including a nomination for the best young filmmaker (female) at the Indie Film Fest, the Bronze award for best student director (female) at the Independent Shorts Awards, as well as two first-time director nominations at the Top Shorts Film Festival, and the Los Angeles Film Awards.
