LOS ANGELES, California - July 21, 2022 - Angeles Echols-Brown and Educating Young Minds, Inc. are proud to have been selected to be a Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black Women Impact Grant recipient.

One of fifty black women-owned, non-profit businesses chosen to partner with Goldman Sachs in this venture this year, Angeles Echols-Brown Founder/CEO of Educating Young Minds (EYM), Inc. has been serving marginalized and underserved youth, Pre K-12th grade, for more than 35 years. What began in a one-room apartment has now impacted the lives of thousands of children and family members. Training their minds to think, EYM impacts and transforms their academic, emotional, and professional trajectories, with equity, inclusion, passion and purpose.

“With this philanthropic investment, we will have access to unrestricted, multi-year funding to scale our work as we address racial and gender inequities in academic achievement, industry and computer skills, and mental wellness through expanded access to resources for digital programming, entrepreneurship.” Says Mrs. Echols-Brown.

In partnership with Black-women-led organizations, financial institutions and other partners, Goldman Sachs has committed $10 billion in direct investment capital and $100 million in philanthropic capital over the next decade to address the dual disproportionate gender and racial biases that Black women have faced for generations, which have only been exacerbated by the pandemic. The initiative, One Million Black Women, is named for and guided by the goal of impacting the lives of at least one million Black women by 2030. Goldman Sachs research has shown that sustained investments in Black women across the core pillars of housing, healthcare, access to capital, education, job creation and workforce advancement, digital connectivity and financial health will catalyze economic growth, making for not only a fairer, but also a richer society.

Mrs. Echols-Brown and E.Y.M. look forward to their partnership with Goldman Sachs to advance shared mission to improve the lives of Black women everywhere.

In addition to the illustrious recognition and continued work toward bridging the educational gap for the underserved, Mrs. Echols-Brown will be releasing her book, “The Me I See in You,” this fall.
