Education Ministers from 20 Nations to Meet in Istanbul to Draft AI Strategies

Turkiye-hosted summit will focus on integrating artificial intelligence into national education systems while preserving human critical-thinking skills.

ISTANBUL, Turkiye - Ministers of Education from 20 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East are scheduled to gather in Istanbul for the 7th Turkiye Educational Technologies Summit & Expo (TETZ 2026), the Turkish Ministry of National Education announced Monday.

The three-day event, taking place from June 26-28, 2026, aims to reshape the global discussion surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) in education and reinforce Turkiye’s leadership in future-proofing learning systems.

The summit will bring together the ministers, along with industry leaders, policymakers, and educators, to address core strategies for integrating AI into education. Discussions will include determining the appropriate level of AI integration into curricula, embedding AI into existing education modules, and establishing policies for remote and hybrid learning models.

Türkiye is positioning the event to place human critical-thinking skills at the center of future learning.

Mustafa Canlı, Director General for Innovation and Educational Technologies at the Ministry of National Education, stated that the age of AI requires a fundamental transformation in approach. "We position AI not as a tool of competition, but as an instrument of cognitive partnership," Canlı said, adding that Türkiye is actively shaping the future of education.

The nation sees the summit as a major gateway for international collaboration in a region with a combined learning population of 500 million.

Türkiye plans to present its strategic framework for placing AI at the core of its national education policies, an approach designed to build resilient learning ecosystems founded on personalized and data-driven education. Türkiye, already a regional leader in digital education, has equipped 650,000 classrooms with digital infrastructure and operates a large EdTech ecosystem serving 18 million students and nearly 1.2 million teachers.

The exhibition is set to become a platform for Türkiye to share its vision with government officials, technology companies, investors, and venture-capital networks worldwide.
