Netsmart, an industry-leading provider of healthcare IT and services with purpose-built electronic health record (EHR) solutions for autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), announces a new partnership with EarliPoint Health, developer of the first and currently only FDA-cleared early autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessment and diagnosis technology.1 Designed to help providers identify autism in children ages 16 months up to 8 years, the EarliPoint™ System uses an eye tracker to measure a child's looking behavior while viewing a series of videos. This collaboration will enable Netsmart to offer the EarliPoint System directly to its client community, helping equip providers with groundbreaking technology that targets early identification and intervention.
“Autism is being identified in more children than ever, making timely evaluation increasingly critical,” said Jamie Pagliaro, CEO of EarliPoint Health. “Partnering with Netsmart, with its long track record and deep expertise supporting the autism and IDD community, expands the reach of the EarliPoint System and helps more providers access advanced tools to support earlier evaluation and intervention for children and their families.”
While diagnostic assessments have existed for years, they are often time-intensive, highly manual and require specially trained clinicians to administer. These factors contribute to significant backlogs and extended wait times, sometimes lasting months or longer, which delay diagnosis and access to early intervention. As a result, prolonged delays can increase the risk of co-morbidities and behavioral health challenges for children with autism, underscoring the urgent need for technology that can help streamline and accelerate the diagnostic process.
EarliPoint Health’s early autism assessment technology uses an eye-gaze capture device to analyze patterns of visual attention. Using patented analysis technology, the device generates a detailed report with a focus-area heat map and scores for language, cognition and social engagement, to aid clinicians in diagnosis and long-term tracking.
“Partnering with a like-minded, technology-driven organization such as EarliPoint Health allows us to further support providers across the autism and IDD community and, most importantly the children and families they serve,” said Kevin Mallot, SVP & Managing Director, Human Services, Netsmart. “The assessment capabilities EarliPoint Health has developed are positioned to help providers work more confidently and efficiently, while giving families the clarity they need sooner, and we look forward to the opportunities our collaboration will bring.”
The assessment can be completed in as little as 12 minutes2, supporting providers’ efforts to conduct more evaluations starting at younger ages and intervene earlier, both of which target improved long-term developmental, health and social outcomes. Automated reporting and documentation strives to help reduce administrative burden, allowing care providers to focus on clinical decision-making and care delivery.
During World Autism Acceptance Month, Netsmart and EarliPoint Health recognize the importance of empowering individuals with autism by fostering understanding, inclusion and support. Through this collaboration, Netsmart is making the EarliPoint Health technology available to its broad community of autism and IDD organizations.
