Kristy Woodson Harvey's Novel The Summer Of Songbirds Named GMA's Buzz Pick

'The Summer Of Songbirds', a new novel by Kristy Woodson Harvey, has received a new award from Good Morning America according to a recent announcement.

Following its successful launch in July, 'The Summer Of Songbirds', the latest release from renowned author of the Peachtree Bluff series Kristy Woodson Harvey, has received new accolades. Despite its very recent publication, the novel was selected by Good Morning America as their Buzz Pick Of The Week, and as a result was displayed prominently on a billboard in Times Square.

This recent announcement adds another in a long list of awards granted to Harvey for her work in the Southern Fiction genre and beyond. The book was previously featured on the New York Times bestsellers list for July, joining many of Harvey’s other novels to have that distinction.

Speaking on the decision, a Good Morning America representative stated, “Three long-term friends in a small Southern town guide each other through romantic troubles while contemplating the future of the beloved camp where they spent their childhood summers together. Their life-long friendships will be shaken - but not broken, we hope. It is the perfect summer read.”

As this blurb details, the new novel follows the exploits of June Moore, owner of a North Carolina summer camp, along with three women who spent time at the camp as children. As the future of the camp is called into question, the trio must put aside their recent differences to save the foundation of their bond.

The novel is Harvey’s tenth major publication, and follows the acclaimed title 'The Wedding Veil'. 'The Summer Of Songbirds', however, sets itself apart from the author’s other recent releases given the direct inspiration taken from Harvey’s own childhood which she drew upon to craft this new narrative.

While Harvey’s national book tour is currently on pause following the novel’s release, signed copies of 'The Summer Of Songbirds', as well as select other titles, may be available on her online store. A calendar of future appearances will also be available there pending the announcement of new tour dates.

Kristy Woodson Harvey is a North Carolina native, whose works in the Southern fiction genre have seen her compared to the likes of Anne Tyler and Mary Kay Andrews. Her works are available for purchase on her website or from most major literary retailers.
