She earned her law degree from Wake Forest University Law School in Winston-Salem in 1995, and has a degree in psychology as well as an MBA with concentration in finance. Ms. Perry is also certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission as a Family Financial Mediator and she has been specially trained in family collaborative law. She is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Greensboro Bar Association Family Law Section, the Guilford Inn of Court, Texas State Bar, and the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Rebecca Perry is licensed to practice in all courts in the states of North Carolina and Texas, including the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. After completing her MBA, Perry worked as a financial analyst for a large company before attending law school. After completing her law degree, she worked in various firms where she gained a great deal of experience in family law. She launched her own family law practice in 2002 but she later merged her practice with another firm in 2010. After years of being a law firm owner and attorney, she decided to hang up her business-owner hat so she can focus only on the practice of law.
"I really like what Camino Law is doing in our community," says Perry. "They have a refreshing attitude and lots of energy, and are focused on what is truly best for families. The attorneys are a little newer to the practice, though, so having my experience on board allows everyone to benefit."
The practice areas of Camino Law are: child custody; separation and divorce; property distribution; alimony; and collaborative law. Child custody issues arise from separating parents who are unable to agree on how to divide custody. Lawyers are often needed to represent their clients in court to help settle the child custody dispute. It is important to note that it is against public policy to litigate over children. Thus, while there are laws governing child custody, these laws are designed for parents to request help from a Judge as a last resort. Thus, when there is a need for a case to be moved to the court system, the very first thing that the separating parents are advised to do is attend a parenting class and then attend mediation to try and resolve their issues. Only when these efforts have been exhausted will the case be transferred to a court hearing.
The lawyers at Camino Law are also ready to help with separation and divorce. In North Carolina, it is a requirement for the couple to live apart and separately for one year before they can file for divorce. There is no paperwork required for the couple to declare themselves separated but they must live in different homes, and not just in separate rooms to be considered separated.

The name “Camino” came from Abigail’s essay about her experience walking “El Camino de Santiago,” which is a 500-mile pilgrim’s route through Spain, which she walked in 1995 while searching for adventure, knowledge, and spiritual enlightenment. She found all three and the walk gave her a profound experience and she decided to name the firm as a tribute to her beloved Camino.
