Shares of financial technology provider Euronet Worldwide (NASDAQ: EEFT) fell 6.5% in the afternoon session after the company reported third quarter 2026 financial results with revenue and adjusted earnings per share below analyst estimates. According to the company's press release, Euronet reported revenue of $1.16 billion, up 1% from a year earlier and 3% in constant currency, below the $1.19 billion consensus. Adjusted earnings were $3.55 a share, down 2% from $3.62 and below the $3.69 consensus. Operating income fell 12% to $171.6 million. Adjusted EBITDA fell 8% to $226.1 million. GAAP diluted earnings were $2.53, compared with $2.75. Chairman and Chief Executive Michael J. Brown said the miss is the Cross-Border Payments segment, where U.S. immigration policy and the broader economy have weighed for longer than the company expected, and where currency translation also hurt. Cross-border revenue fell 5% to $431.0 million, or 4% in constant currency. Operating income in that segment fell 37%, and adjusted EBITDA fell 34%.

What is the market telling us
Euronet Worldwide’s shares are somewhat volatile and have had 10 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.
The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 5 months ago when the stock dropped 5% on the news that the May jobs report drove Treasury yields to levels that directly challenge the sector's business model. The 10-year yield rose above 4.5% and the 30-year climbed above 5%, thresholds that increase mark-to-market pressure on bond portfolios at asset managers and raise the hurdle rate for new private credit and infrastructure fund deployment
Euronet Worldwide is down 20% since the beginning of the year, and at $59.26 per share, it is trading 29.2% below its 52-week high of $83.67 from July 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Euronet Worldwide’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $519.54.
