It’s about time that we revisited an area that gives us some satisfaction after a long day of work. Heck, even when it comes to looking back at some of the places that were favorites of ours, it’s nice to see what they’ve added to their menu. If you want to see the best eateries that survived the pandemic and are outstanding places to eat in Glendale, Arizona this is one roundup you’ll want to add to your Friday night dine-out agenda.

Since 1996, Ajo Al’s has been a stable favorite in Glendale serving fine Mexican restaurant meals. We love that they’re family-owned and serve excellent dishes and outstanding service. They even offer a special reward program that gives you when you sign up for their app rewards online. It’s a family-friendly joint that is always perfect for return visits and their signature margaritas are so refreshing on any hot day.

Come for the great ambiance and expert bartenders and service you can expect from Monday through Sunday. If you’re looking for special menu deals, they further offer weekly specials that go with every sports event and a holiday coming up.

It’s all too easy to get a Big Mac attack at some point, but when it comes to Then Burger’s menu options, it’s not hard to see why these burgers hit the spot! They have a dozen signature burgers and even one that’s special just for vegan eaters too. What makes this place special is that they’re open 7 days a week and include a kid’s menu with favorites like Mac & Cheese and kiddo-sized Sliders.

Every day from 3-6pm they feature a happy hour menu with a bucket and slider menu, appetizers, and discount cocktails and beer. Check out their menu for special Mead blends that’ll take off the edge of any hard day.

If you thought some things in Glendale feel out of fashion (and perhaps out of business), A Touch of European Café has been going strong since 2003. They bring a fine blend of British, German, Polish, Hungarian, and even Eastern European favorites to the table. If you’re especially hip on Polish food, they offer very authentic Kielbasa and Pierogi dishes that will blow your mind. It’s also one of the more unique places to eat in Glendale which has great food variety.

Every day they also serve one of 50 different kinds of homemade soup served in rotation. Save some room for dessert likewise and enjoy their open policy for bringing your favorite wine and beer (B.Y.O.B.) just like many European restaurants often allow. Check out their website too, it’s a nod back to the early 2000s likewise!

The Lola

Serving brunch, lunch, and dinner, The Lola is your one-stop shop for all things trendy and tasty. They’re very hip on serving locally grown foods and vegetables with a big tip of the hat towards a great experience and friendly atmosphere. If you’re a foodie, you’ll love their original Lobster Mac and genuinely tasty charcuterie board selections. But if you simply love tasting different drink flights, they’ll set you straight right from the start.

What is more enticing is they’ll give you a further bonus with a 15% discount on an electronic gift card just for signing up online. This is a very family-friendly restaurant and they have plenty of room for large party groups of 20 or more. For those who are big Super Bowl and sports fans, they can help create a party feeling with less than 72-hours-notice for your next big celebration.

HARU Sushi

20165 67th Ave. STE B125, Glendale, AZ 85308

(623) 217-2720

https://harusushigrillaz.menu11.com/

They’ve only been around since 2018, so this is the kind of sushi place you’ll want to get familiar with soon enough. The owner Andrew is a real down-to-earth chef who has seen more places and worked in many top-shelf restaurants all over America, so you’ll love his style for sushi even closer than most. If you’re a stickler for great sushi, HARU sushi is the best choice with outstanding prices that aren’t your typical sushi bar rates.

You might already know that I’m not a big fan of happy hour, but you gotta admit that their all-day happy hour on Monday is hard to beat! And if you ever thought sushi doesn’t fill you up, I highly recommend their High Roller platter for your next sushi dining event.

They even go out of their way to provide vegan dogs for those who are looking to get the whole hot dog experience. Since we last checked, they had 25 various dogs and now they feature more than 30 on the menu.

Haus Murphy’s

5739 W. Glendale Ave. Glendale, AZ 85301

(623) 939-2480

https://hausmurphys.com/

Certainly one of downtown’s classic spots to hit for Oktoberfest, but did you know that Haus Murphy’s is a down-to-earth traditional German food and (of course) no shortage of great German beers. If you’ve never tried Schnitzel (breaded and fried meat), they offer many varieties. Don’t forget to try their amazing bratwurst and be sure to make room for their German chocolate cheesecake.

It’s rumored that it used to be one of the top places to eat in Glendale that started going downhill recently, but you know how internet trolls want to cancel everything… I’m glad that Haus Murphy’s is still going strong and recommend anyone who’s looking for something different to get a taste of what German food and beer are all about. If you like Schnapps shots, you’ll find a flavor you like to kick off any late lunch or dinner.

Arrowhead Grill

8280 W. Union Hills Dr., Glendale, AZ 85308

(623) 566-2224

https://arrowheadgrill.com/

You just can’t let a great meal go unchecked when it comes to enjoying an amazing steak at Arrowhead Grill. Not only have they survived the last two years of endless lockdowns, but they’ve also earned a prestigious 5-time Wine Spectator Award of Excellence from 2014-2019. Honestly, they’re the best steakhouse in the West Valley for the service and awesome food. Prices are a bit steep for most pockets these days, but seriously you have to spoil yourself at some point.

Their superb 48oz Porter House steak is truly a meat lover’s dream and kids will love their savvy take on scaled-down kiddo foods. They still offer gift cards which make great stocking stuffers for family and friends. But for those truly special events, they always have amazing holiday and seasonal event dinners that are well worth making a reservation before they get all booked up.
