(Matthew Du, NewsUSA Reporter) - The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) handles various public transport modes in Philly. However, its safety protocols are under scrutiny due to a series of shootings that include high school students getting wounded.
The Uvalde Foundation for Kids started after a school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and is currently recruiting Philadelphia volunteers to patrol SEPTA bus routes. The patrol aims to make the streets safer for kids and avoid further harm due to gun violence.
As of writing, no authority-driven solutions have yet to be released. Meanwhile, residents take extra safety precautions when using the transport system.
